When the Costa del Sol experienced a renaissance as a winter golf resort in the late eighties the phrase “Costa del Golf” was coined. Between 1985 and 1991 no fewer than 17 new courses appeared, bringing the total on this 50 mile stretch of coast up to thirty. This concentration of quality golf courses combined with the sunny and warm winter climate enjoyed by the region led to its becoming
unrivalled for winter golf. Miraflores, Torequebrada, Mijas, Lauro, Los Olivos, Los Largos, Marbella, Los Naranjos, Guadalhorce, El Parador, Alhurin, Rio Real, Guadalmina, La Quinta, Cabopino, La Cala, Elvira and more are all within a short drive. San Roque and the world renowned Valdorama are within 30 minutes.
Miraflores Golf Course (18 holes -Par 70)
Miraflores is both beautiful and challenging, especially for those who enjoy their golf with elevated greens and water.
Miraflores is one of the Costa del Sol’s top leisure and resort developments. Located in the hills above Mijas Costa it offers breathtaking views of the countryside down to the sea. The course has a number of elevated greens and the 18th green is particularly tricky with some steep slopes. Watch out for the 15th hole, were water forms a moat around the green.
